About

I am a Professor of Operations & Technology at the UCL School of Management. I joined UCL in 2015 after receiving my PhD in Operations Management from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University. I also hold an MS in Manufacturing & Operations Management from the Tepper School at Carnegie Mellon University and an MS in Industrial Engineering from Bilkent University, and I received my BS degree in Industrial Engineering from Bilkent University.

My primary research focuses on innovative businesses, such as online platforms (e.g., crowdfunding, crowdsourcing, e-commerce, hospitality), and their interaction with conventional businesses. I also research innovation sourcing and management, technology in healthcare, supply chain economics, socially responsible operations, and business analytics. I use theoretical, empirical, and experimental methodologies in my research.

My work has been published in world-leading academic journals such as Management Science, Operations Research, and Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, as well as practitioner journals such as INTERFACES and Harvard Business Review. It has also been featured in leading news outlets such as the Financial Times and the Wall Street Journal. I am listed as one of the World’s Best 40 Under 40 MBA Professors by Poets and Quants, and I have received numerous awards, such as best dissertation, best working paper, and best paper awards. I am an active member of INFORMS, the MSOM Society, and TIMES, and an associate editor at Management Science.
