Industry projects
Much of my research starts from a collaboration with an organization and its data. These are sample partners, and each has led to research and practical tools.
vRad (Virtual Radiologic)
2011–2014
vRad was then the world’s largest teleradiology provider. We developed business analytics tools to improve demand forecasting and radiologist scheduling, which led to measurable operational improvements. The work was published in Interfaces: Business Analytics Assists Transitioning Traditional Medicine to Telemedicine at Virtual Radiologic.
A hotel group in Europe
2022–present
I lead a research partnership with a hotel group in Europe, analyzing rich booking data to address strategic questions on loyalty programs, pricing and channel management. It has produced several projects combining theoretical modeling with empirical analysis, including a study of loyalty programs as delivery channel innovations.
Antalya Teaching and Research Hospital
2023–present
I co-lead a project with physicians, academics and students to improve treatment planning for beta thalassemia major, a complex genetic disorder that requires lifelong care. We built an algorithmic decision-support tool that helps physicians determine the optimal treatment frequency and dosage. It runs on a web platform and is being piloted by the hospital’s hematologists.
